The torque arm principe
The principle of torque arm is to prevent loosening of the wheel fixing nuts due to engine torque. Indeed, with each acceleration, this creates a jerk, which is enough in the long run to unscrew the nuts from the motor shaft.

If the nuts are no longer sufficiently tight, the motor shaft will be free in the frame and will exert a torque on the wheel mounting jaws, causing them to deform.
