The engineers at Bafang designed this engine to make it as reliable as possible, but also easy to install and maintain.

We recommend this kit mainly to women for its flexibility of use but also to all cyclists under 80Kg who wish to have the widest possible range of use.
The BBS01 250W 36V crankset motor offers a torque of 80N.m which places it ahead of all other 250W crankset motors on the market.
This torque will be able to climb up to 110N.m with the "short transmission" option that we offer in the MTB / Cargo version of this kit and the optimized mapping.
In addition to being more efficient than its competitors, it is also quieter thanks to its integrated vector-controlled controller.
The Bafang 250W middle motor kit can be installed on 90% of traditional bikes without modification to the existing frame.
Another advantage and not the least, this engine has been developed in order to keep a traditional bicycle transmission, you can ride as on a standard bike with a 44 teeth or 46 teeth chainring and not a small 22 teeth as on some brands.
For mountain bikers or pilots over 80Kg note that we offer an optimized MTB version of this engine in which the maximum torque rises to 110N.m.
THIS KIT CONTAINS
THE MIDDLE MOTOR
The Bafang BBS01 middle motor is installed in place of the original crankset.
Designed as a single unit, it integrates the motor, the controller and the pedal sensor.
Installation is easy and does not require any modification to the frame.
All the screws required for installation are supplied as standard.
THE WIRING HARNESS
All connectors are waterproof and have visual keying. You can't go wrong when plugging in.
A single cable goes up from the engine to the handlebars to connect the various accessories:
2 Red connectors for brake cuts
1 Green connector for the control screen on the handlebars (display)
1 yellow connector for the accelerator (optional)
You will need to power your BBS01 middle motor kit with a 36V battery. All 36V batteries in our catalog are compatible with this engine.
The choice of battery capacity should be made according to the autonomy you want. For example, a 500Wh battery will give you around 50Km of autonomy without forcing the bike and up to 100Km depending on your effort. A 1000Wh battery will give you double the autonomy.
The second criterion to take into account when choosing the battery will be where you want to install the battery on your bike.
Check the dimensions of the battery by going directly to the article sheet of the battery concerned in order to confirm that it can be installed on your frame.
We offer these batteries in 3 versions:
-A 500Wh version
-A 750Wh version
-A 1000Wh version
The above autonomies are mentioned for information only. This is an average distance that a cyclist of 75Kg can cover with a city bike or VTC or Road on a hilly course. For the above range calculation, we take a consumption base of 7Wh / km. The actual range that you will get will depend on various factors such as your weight, tire pressure, the difference in level of the course ... THREE CHOICE OF CONTROL SCREENS (display)
Black and white vertical display, entry level: Black and white display, to be positioned in the middle of the handlebars, remote mode selector to be placed to the left of the handlebars. You decide between 3, 5 or 9 assistance modes via the menu.
Display of speed, distance, mode selected and battery life.
Compact color display: Its compact format offers perfect integration to the left of the handlebars.
A beautiful color TFT screen displays all the engine, battery and trip parameters: distance traveled, speed, engine power, battery life, selected mode.
You choose the number of assistance modes you want from 3, 5 or 9 modes via the menu.
Vertical color display: With this display, you access what is best on the eBike market. This model displays more parameters and it has an auto-adaptive backlight depending on the brightness and a USB port for charging a smartphone or GPS while driving.
You can choose the number of assistance modes via the menu but also define yourself the power distribution on each mode.
The accelerator offers the possibility of controlling the engine without pedaling.
In the form of a thumb trigger, the throttle can be installed on the right or left of the handlebars.
Note, however, that the accelerator is not approved for driving on a road open to traffic.
He finds his interest on a mountain bike to help with hill starts and obstacle passages.
The brake cut-off is an additional safety device which cuts off the power supply to the motor during braking. This is particularly very practical during delicate maneuvers in town in particular.
The brake cut-off comes in different forms:
The brake handles that replace your original handles.
The cable sensor which is installed on the brake cable and which keeps the original handles (ideal for road bikes with pressure cookers).
The magnetic sensor to be reserved for bicycles equipped with hydraulic brakes.
The derailleur sensor cuts off power to the crank motor during gear change, thus preventing premature deterioration of your transmission.
We strongly recommend it for mountain biking in which the speeds are often changed "on the fly" by two or three.
OZO has selected the best electric bicycle tires on the market for you. German manufacture Schwalbe tires have a thick anti-puncture protection and a very resistant rubber.
Their lifespan is of the order of 10,000 km.

The battery is delivered with a 2A charger as standard.
If you want to halve the charging time, you can opt for the 36V 4A charger.
Adapter for 4-hole or 5-hole table top.
Allows the mounting of conventional transmission chainrings to the MTB standard 4 holes (4x104 BCD) or 5 holes Campagnolo (5x135) or Shimano (5x130 or 5x110).
Also offers the possibility of making a double plate assembly.
The Bafang motor is assisted by the pedal. It is the chain of your bike that will transmit all the power of the engine. It is advisable to install a reinforced chain in order to prevent the chain from breaking.
You will find reinforced chains for crank motors in the reinforced chains section.
The only specific tool you will need for installing the Bafang crank motor is the torque wrench.
Note that this tightening wrench is also used to unscrew the outer bearings of the Shimano Hollowtech bottom brackets.
Disassembling the original crankset from your bike may also require more standard tools such as a crank remover or a square axle bottom bracket remover.
Factory mapping will be fine for urban use, but some will find it lacking in dynamism.
At OZO, we have developed an optimized mapping allowing to reduce the response times to the activation and to the stop of pedaling and to draw the full potential of the pedal motor to such an extent that the customers having compared the two mappings ask us why we do not only offer ours because the difference in performance is so obvious.
For specific projects, we can optionally create custom maps in order to configure the response times, the acceleration curve, the torque and the speed on the various assistance modes, the operation of the accelerator, etc.
ON WHICH BIKE CAN I INSTALL A BAFANG MIDDLE MOTOR?
The BBS01 crankset motor is designed to be installed on BSA standard frames, i.e. with an internal case diameter of 33.5mm (Measure A) and a length of 68mm to 73mm (Measure B)
There are two types of mounting for bottom bracket bearings, those with internal bearings and those with external bearings. In both cases, measurements are always taken at the frame level as illustrated opposite.
The measurement A corresponds to the internal diameter of the case, it is taken inside the tube edge to edge. The standard is 33.5mm. If you have more, you will need to take the appropriate adapter.
Measurement B corresponds to the length of the frame box, this is done between the two ends of the frame tube. You must have between 68mm and 73mm. If you have more (83mm, 92mm, 100mm ...) you will have to choose the BBSHD crankset motor.
